Artificial intelligence (AI)
A broad discipline with the goal of creating intelligent machines, as opposed to the natural intelligence that is demonstrated by humans and animals. A branch of computer science concerned with building smart machines capable of performing actions or tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. The digital voice assistants on mobile phones and home devices are commonly used applications
of AI. The most famous AI in fiction is HAL 9000 in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which HAL (Heuristically programmed Algorithmic computer) systematically kills the crew of the Discovery One spaceship.
